Originally a dowry town, lying at the confluence of the Elbe and the Vltava Rivers, the town of Mělník is nowadays known as the centre of a small wine region. Built in the Renaissance style, the castle, with its historical large wine cellars, belongs to their traditional owners, the Princes of Lobkowicz.
